Where geometry plays nice
This custom deck of playing cards explores the timeless elegance of Avenir through a typographic lens. Designed by Swiss typographer Adrian Frutiger in 1988, Avenir was conceived as a more humanized alternative to geometric sans-serifs. Embracing its refined forms and spacious rhythm, I created thirteen intricate, type-driven motifs using letterforms, counters, and glyphs from the typeface itself. The suits are distinguished by a bold color system creating a deck that’s equal parts playful, precise, and deeply rooted in typographic exploration.
